Without a doubt, the Jaguar MK11 was one of Coventry’s finest. Such was its depth of talents with a combination of true pace and grace, this Super Saloon was the choice of celebrities, racing drivers and the enthusiasts that were able to enjoy 120 MPH performance with the practicality of a four door saloon. This matching numbers UK example was restored some 13 years ago and, like many cars finished to such a high standard, used very little. Accompanying the car is a comprehensive history folder with a photo recorded restoration confirming it was correctly restored and nearly £50,000 of bills. Originality was chosen over upgrades which we always would argue works better on MK11’s with the exception of the fitting of the tried and tested Vicarage power assisted steering upgrade. Since acquisition, we have thoroughly commissioned this MK11 over the course of the last three months and covering some 400 miles. Recent work has included all fluids, hoses, new petrol pump, carburettors overhauled, new fuel tank and a full major service as per the manufacturer’s recommendations. A correctly restored Jaguar MK11 remains one of our favorite models for many reasons. They represent to the collector, usable classic that all the family can enjoy making light work of modern traffic and settling into extended motorway journeys with ease comfortably sitting on the national speed limit with the super smooth overdrive engaged. Even the moss box, if operating correctly, is a joy and not as agriculture as often portrayed. The 3.4 engine, losing only 20 BHP to the 3.8, lives up to its reputation of being the smoother mill and, although values have steadily increased, a well restored car can still be acquired for approximately half the cost of purchase and restoration of a poor example.
