With a total production run of only 60 home market RHD DB7 GTA’s, this Aston Martin is not only very appealing to the collector, it is also one of the very finest examples available today. Working with a fellow AMOC judge following the sale of his DB6, we were commissioned to help him find a more modern alternative. Selected not only for its provenance and overall condition, the colour scheme of Chiltern green with Charcoal sports interior with the cross grained Oak veneers, unique to this limited addition model, was the decider. On acquisition in March 2012, we delivered the GTA to the workshop where we embarked on an 8 week programme of refurbishment and concourse preparation work to bring this example up to show standard. All components were removed from the chassis and the floor of the DB7 was refinished treating any minor areas of surface corrosion. With all the chassis components removed, the painstaking process of refurbishment began. With all the main components back from coating, the underside of the car was reassembled with all new fixings (stainless steel where possible). The brake callipers were refurbished and painted, new discs and pads fitted along with new bearings and bushes all round. The bespoke 5 spoke GTA wheels were professionally refinished in the correct shade of silver and four new Bridgestone So2 tyres were fitted as originally. With the engine and bay detailed, a full service was carried out including the replacement of all twelve ignition coil packs. Any other ancillary component was checked, overhauled or replaced and the air conditioning system fully serviced and gassed. Following a two day detail clean final shake down, our client entered the stunning DB7 into the AMOC concourse at Waddeson manor on 20th May where the car one its class first time out. Since then, this GTA has remained pampered but enjoyed by the same owner covering some 6,000 dry miles.
